FaceTime Basics

FaceTime is Apple’s catchall audio/video conferencing app. You can place and receive audio-only or audio/video calls with one or more other people. You can start, accept, or join calls from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac or start a call from an Apple TV using a native FaceTime app.

FaceTime on an iPad or macOS also receives incoming voice calls to a phone number associated with an iPhone linked to your account if you’ve enabled that option. (watchOS has an app called Phone, but it really doubles as a way to place and receive FaceTime audio calls.)
