Capture in Live Photo Mode
Live mode is a gimmick, I’ll readily admit. When you take a photo, the camera also records a few seconds of video and audio, so you end up with a little moving picture. It’s not quite a movie—it’s treated as a photo with a little something extra added.
What’s more interesting to me is how a Live Photo is made. Remember that the Camera app is constantly evaluating the scene in front of you, applying corrections and sometimes effects in real time. It’s constantly shuttling data between the camera’s sensor and the dedicated image processors to make this all happen.
