The Strategic Imperative

If talent is the first pillar of the new TSR, the source of a company’s strength, then strategy is the second, through which the company finds its path toward long-term growth. Talent and strategy are twinned and reciprocal: talent sets the strategy, and the strategy relies on the presence of people who have the right skills to implement it. Setting strategy and executing it well is the prime imperative of management. And oversight of strategy is thus a crucial responsibility of the board.
