Our aim in writing this book was to help directors redefine the concept of total shareholder return by taking the long view and focusing on the key considerations of talent, strategy, and risk.
In the interviews we conducted with dozens of company leaders and directors, the subject of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues came up quite frequently. And from our own experience in working with boards, we know that ESG is top of mind for many directors.
