5. Using Metadata
Metadata is simply data that describes other data. From a Lightroom perspective, metadata is useful descriptive information about your photos, whether it takes the form of titles, captions, keywords, GPS, or more. Lightroom is a database at its core, and as you learned in Chapter 4’s discussion of collections, the more data entered into that database the more you can leverage it for your own purposes (such as when using smart collections).
