Two forms of unstructured data are so pervasive and so unique that they deserve their own special treatment. Those forms of unstructured data are spreadsheets and email. Each has its own unique characteristics and considerations.
Spreadsheets are the lingua franca of the personal computer. Spreadsheets are as ubiquitous as grass in summer. They are used by financiers, accountants, secretaries, managers, planners, and practically everyone else. They are everywhere. Figure 10-1 shows the common spreadsheet.
