17. Case Study—Managing Contracts Through an Unstructured Database
The example company created for this chapter is the HTR Oil and Gas Company that has more than 10,000 contracts. These contracts have been collected over the years. The primary problem is that over the years companies have changed. HTR has been built from the merger of more than 10 companies over a 30-year period.
First, there was Flying Horse Petroleum that merged with SOHO in 1961. Then, Flying Horse merged with CalPetro in 1980, taking the name Jumbo Oil and Gas. CalPetro was the result of a merger with California Oil and Coastal Platforms. In 1991, Jumbo Oil and Gas merged with Station Time Gas and became HTR.
