Add Your Email Accounts to Mail

Unless you gave the Mac Setup Assistant your account information while setting up OS X, or you set up an iCloud account, you must set up Mail with your email account. Mail works with most types of email accounts, including Apple’s iCloud service and industry-standard POP mail servers and IMAP mail servers.

Mail is able to set up email accounts with major providers such as Apple’s iCloud service, Google’s Gmail, and Yahoo! Mail by using only your email address and password. For other accounts, you also need to enter the addresses and types of your provider’s mail servers.
