Switch Among Accounts with Fast User Switching
When Fast User Switching is turned on, two or more users can use your Mac mini without logging out. Only one user can use the keyboard, mouse, and screen at a time, but each other user’s computing session keeps running in the background, with all of her applications still open.
OS X automatically stops multimedia playing when you switch users. For example, if another user is still playing music in iTunes when you switch the Mac mini to your user account, iTunes stops playing the music.
