Send an Email Message

If you know the email address of a person or organization, you can send an email message to that address. An email address is a set of characters that uniquely identifies the location of an Internet mailbox. Each email address takes the form username@domain, where username is the name of the person’s account with the ISP or within his or her organization; and domain is the Internet name of the company that provides the person’s email account.

When you send an email message, it travels through your ISP’s outgoing mail server. This server routes the messages to the recipient’s incoming mail server, which then stores the message in the recipient’s mailbox.
