CHAPTER 3

Joining a Meeting

To participate in a Zoom meeting hosted by someone else, you must first join that meeting. You can join a meeting in several ways, including via the Zoom desktop and mobile apps, from an email invitation, from the Web, and by phone. Once you are in the meeting, you have several controls at your disposal for participating in the meeting.

Join a Meeting via the Desktop App

You can use the Zoom desktop app to join a meeting. Before you can join the meeting, though, you need to know the meeting ID, which is a 10- or 11-digit number that uniquely identifies the meeting. Most meetings also require you to enter a six-digit passcode. These steps assume you have not received an invitation link; if you do have such a link, it is easier to use the method described in the section “Join a Meeting via an Invitation Link” later in this chapter.

You can join a Zoom meeting using the desktop app either before or after signing in to the app.
