1. Control the scheduling of project reviews. You want project reviews so you can tell your story but, to the extent possible, try to limit the number and control the timing.
2. Triage the requests to the team. Work with team members and stakeholders to get them to re-direct those little requests to you for review and handling. You can handle most of these requests yourself and, if not, you can work them into the team’s schedule so they do not disrupt the flow of the project.
3. Orchestrate the communications. Your role is to run “interference” for the team by providing senior management and other stakeholders with enough information to satisfy their curiosity and keep the team insulated from outside interference. ...
