Pick a Professional Theme
If you opted for WordPress, you’ll find that the default WordPress look is clean and minimalist. Depending on your aesthetic preferences, you may like that look a lot. But it would be a mistake to settle for this default theme for three reasons:

Most new blogs use the default theme. Sticking with it will not help your blog stand out from the crowd.

Visitors value eye candy. A beautiful design will greatly help your blog succeed, even if you settle for a minimalist one that focuses on content.

The default theme has very limited features and customization options.
This is true whether you opted for WordPress or not. Sticking to the default theme offered by your blog engine is rarely a good idea.
