Chapter 4. Contemporary QoS Wisdom
This chapter covers the traditional thinking on how to market QoS and deliver QoS before the Net Neutrality debate started in late 2005. It should be noted that every network has its special characteristics and, therefore, different requirements on QoS. The attempt made in this chapter is to extract some common themes from many different networks so that the readers can get a high-level picture. Because of the generalization, the business model and technical solution presented in this chapter may not be directly applicable to certain networks.
