Chapter 6. Commercial Challenges

This chapter deals with the economic aspects of the challenges surrounding the commercialization of QoS using the conventional QoS business model. The goal is to illustrate that selling QoS as a separate item from network connectivity causes many challenges. We will discuss the challenges from the following angles:

  • The challenge of deciding who should get the higher CoS.
  • The challenge in selling.
  • The challenge of deciding who should pay for the higher CoS.
  • The challenge associated with the cooperation among NSPs for the differentiation of CoS's to end users.
