Artificial Canapes

Artificial canapes can be a valuable alternative to real ones, since food can spoil and replacing it is costly. These canapes can be used alone or as supplements to real canapes.

BREADS AND CRACKERS

BROWN AND RYE BREADS

Choose a yellow cellulose sponge. Yellow is the ideal choice because it is the most neutral-color sponge available and will take paint best. If you cannot get a sponge the thickness of the bread you would like, you can slice a thicker sponge with a razor or band saw. Cut the sponge to fit the shape you want for your canapes. To color, mix scene paint to the appropriate color and soak the sponge in it. It may be necessary to dip the sponge several times to achieve the right color.
