A Free-Falling Ball of Light

For each performance of a recent production of Heaven, we needed an “astrological ball of light” to fall, roll, and bounce freely down a 20′ commercial plastic trash chute into an onstage dumpster. After considering and discarding several alternatives including chase effects and battery-powered light sources, we settled on the lighting furture described here.
