A simple, reliable, practically free source of hydraulic power is available right out of your sink faucet. Using tap water is a great way to get into hydraulics without the expense of buying pumps, filters, reservoirs, and lengths of special hosing. And because most municipal water companies pump water at pressures of about 45 to 90psi, tap-water hydraulic power systems are much safer than oil-based, industrial hydraulic power systems, which work at pressures of 500 to 2000psi or more.
