Flipping Trap Unit |
The banquet in the 1997 LA Shakespeare Festival production of The Tempest had to appear quickly and without any help onstage. Budget, time, and the fact that the production toured required that the trap be easy to build, quick to install, and simple to operate. To meet these needs, we designed a flipping trap unit that could unlock, flip, and re-lock. One side of the trap was used as the stage floor. Props representing the banquet were attached to the other side. The trap, plug, and mechanism were built as a unit to simplify movement and installation.
