Sugar Strategies for Biomass Biochemical Conversion
Abstract
Lignocellulosic biomass is composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, extractives, and minerals. The cellulose and hemicellulose are carbohydrate polymers, which typically comprise up to two-thirds of the lignocellulosic biomass. Efficient utilization of both the cellulose and hemicellulose has become a world priority. In this chapter, the totipotency of glucose and xylose was introduced, the preparation of glucose and xylose were also described. Finally the concept and technique routine of the sugar platform were proposed and clarified.
