4 Philosophy of science in historical perspective
Philosophy of science is a philosophical discipline concerned with the foundations, methods and implications of science, including applications of its findings in socio-economic practice. Its scope overlaps with epistemology, for example, when it explores the relationship between scientific knowledge and truth. Philosophy of science as an autonomous discipline is a product of the twentieth century.
