CHAPTER 17 POST-PRODUCTION SOUND
The final soundtrack on any recorded program will be made up of a number of elements. These could include the sync soundtrack recorded at the same time as the pictures, commentary, music, sound effects and buzz tracks. All these elements – or tracks - need to be mixed so that the final soundtrack plays at a constant level and, if two or more tracks are playing at the same time, so that they are all audible. For example, music or background sound might need to be held down so that you can hear a voice-over. Once the voice-over finishes, the level at which the music plays could be brought up. The music might then be dipped again slightly as the voice-over resumes.
