GLOSSARY
The following are some of the words and expressions that are widely used throughout the industry. Most are explained more fully elsewhere in this book. The list does not include the more common job titles. These are all listed in Chapter 2. Definitions that relate specifically to film will be found in Chapter 21.
1 inch | Linear tape format for edit mastering. |
2-shot | Shot showing two people. |
3-shot | Shot showing three people. |
4-way split | Image made up of four separate pictures each quartering the screen. |
Aspect Ratio | Relative height and width of a picture. Standard TV picture has a 4:3 aspect ratio. |
Aston | Make of caption generator. |
