People turn to communications technologies to access specific applications for specific purposes. In the context of television, this traditionally means switching on the set to watch programmes that cater to a range of interests and needs. Viewers may have favourite programmes or favourite programme categories or genres. Internet users may seek specific types of information or entertainment as well.
