Levels of Measurement

Levels of measurement are used to organize numbers to be able to analyze them for specific purposes. In this book, the numbers of interest are criterion-referenced test scores, item scores, and job analysis data. One of the goals of this book is to enable the reader to analyze these scores and data in order to draw conclusions about the test quality, item quality, and the appropriateness of the decisions being made based on those scores. In order to analyze scores, the test developer must first determine the level of measurement.
