11.1 INTRODUCTION

Chinese and Japanese are the two major languages in which ideograms are used in writing. In addition, while the Korean writing system is based on phonograms, the language is historically strongly influenced by the ideogram culture. This chapter describes text entry in these East Asian languages, a primary characteristic of which lies in ideograms.
