Most leadership action takes place in the trenches in localized situations. Leaders must respond to a particular customer need or overcome a production problem. They tackle a software integration issue or redirect a dysfunctional group. They implement a method to cut costs on a specific project or heal the wounds of mistrust between two departments in conflict.
