On July 23, 2012, our investigation committee published the “Final Report on the Accident at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Stations of the Tokyo Electric Power Company”. The government’s investigation committee had completed the report at the beginning of July, however, so the committee was active for 13 months, from early July 2011 until late June 2012. The committee knew that nuclear power generation doesn’t simply raise safety concerns. Nuclear power generation affects the entire society because of its importance in providing the nation’s energy supply.
