CHAPTER 11The Final Exit
Your exit will likely end up different than you expect, but it may end up being exactly what you need.
“Great, I look forward to seeing you on Thursday, Scott.”
She hung up the receiver on her office phone and took a deep breath, the deepest one she had taken in over a year. She leaned back in her chair and without meaning to, she paused. A smile began to form on both sides of her mouth. “I can’t believe I did it,” she thought to herself, but quickly realized she whispered it aloud.
She had worked so incredibly hard at growing her business. She stayed focused and worked through the exact steps of building a scalable business. She read the books, worked with mentors, attended the seminars, and operated with intention from the beginning so that she could build to exit. She made smart decisions, and stayed diligent and resilient. She said no to so many things so that she could say yes to this one thing, and to a life beyond her wildest imagination.
She displayed unwavering discipline and commitment throughout the last two decades and although she wanted to quit so many times along the way, she didn’t.
Through that perseverance, she finally attracted a buyer. She made it through the egregious due diligence period, and successfully navigated months of meetings without the team or thousands of clients finding out.
The final documents were being prepared, and all the lawyers were set. Now she had reached the 11th hour.
