Creating your first agile plan isn’t all that much different from preparing for a busy weekend. It all starts with a good list.
The master story list is a collection of user stories (features) your customer is going to want to see in their software. It is prioritized by your customers, it is estimated by your team, and it forms the basis of your project plan.
A good master story list will usually have about one to six months worth of work. There is no point tracking stories much beyond that because a) you don’t know what the world will look like six months from now and b) you’ll probably never get to them anyway, so why bother?
