Why Bother With Assessment and Evaluation?
Needs assessment? Analysis? Why bother? It seems like a lot of work. It takes too much time. I don’t know how to design a needs assessment. Evaluation? Smile sheets? Reaction forms? Happy sheets? Whatever they are called. Aren’t they under attack by the performance people? Who needs that trouble? I don’t have time. My supervisor doesn’t support evaluations. There are so many obstacles that get in the way of even the best intentions of evaluating training.
Whoa! Hold that thought. Let’s look at assessment, evaluation, and the relationship between the two. Then we’ll determine if we should bother or not.
