How to Draw Lightly
To draw lightly we first need to learn how to hold the pencil. Most people mistakenly assume that drawing is done with the same grip we use for writing, which is called the tripod grip. Although the tripod grip can be used for drawing, it comes with severe limitations. The tripod grip produces uniformly thin, dark lines made by applying steady pressure to the tip of the pencil. This kind of dark, uniform line is excellent for writing, but not for drawing.
