Light and Shadow Conditions on a Sphere
Most of what you need to know about light and shadow can be learned by observing light on a sphere. Later in this chapter I will teach you how light operates differently on cylinders and cubes. At any point in the following discussion, if you are having trouble seeing a particular light or shadow condition, it can be useful to squint your eyes or to let your eyes go softly out of focus. This will simplify the values into broad, more easily recognizable shapes and patterns.
