Whatever regulatory setting may apply to them, banks have leeway to develop and apply their own strategies and standards for merger success. This next section, Chapter 4, Bank Strategies for Growth and Value, defines these two values in relation to one another and explains how banks achieve them. The last two chapters in this section provide guidance for determining and confirming the value a given bank may bring to the entity acquiring it.
