Chapter 10. Enterprise Metadata Management

Why include a chapter on enterprise metadata management? Metadata is increasingly important in achieving the synergistic alignment of business and IT domains. This chapter describes new aspects of metadata, how it relates to the mapping of business terms to IT objects, and the increasing role enterprise-wide metadata management has in information-centric use case scenarios.

We also describe the emerging role of metadata and its management capabilities in architecturally mature environments.
