Madeline was the chief operating officer (COO) in a small tech company. Her performance was excellent, but her employer, a large venture capitalist (VC) firm, wanted Alice’s help to learn more about her: Who was she? What were her talents? Where would be the best place for her? To the VCs, she was a woman of mystery. Alice, armed with her evaluation tools, set out to discover more about this enigmatic person. While the evaluation was for Madeline’s employer, Alice had seen the benefits of coaching extend beyond its original purpose—and even result in a promotion.
