Mixing Paint
Mixing paint with water and pouring medium is an important step in the paint-pouring process. It can take a bit of practice to get the consistency right every time you pour, however. Moreover, I find that I prefer different consistencies depending on the technique I’m using. For instance, if I’m looking for a striated effect (see here), I keep my paint thicker so that it doesn’t mix too much. When I want my colors to blend, I make the paint thinner.
As part of your learning process, try pouring with paint that is thinner or thicker than what you would normally use and see how the results turn out. From there, you can practice and tweak your mixture until you are happy with it.
