WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Everyone needs feedback, but few people either give or receive enough. On balance, everyone is in need of a little more than they are prepared to give.
Feedback is important for people’s learning and development, to boost morale and send them home feeling valued and motivated to take on even bigger challenges. Feedback takes two prime forms, formal and informal. Informal feedback is the comments and suggestions you make about people’s work on a day-by-day basis. Formal feedback is the process you follow as prescribed by an organisational procedure. Such procedures are normally laid down by the human resources (HR) function.
