WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
The term ‘team’ is much overused and in most organisational settings is synonymous with a bunch of people who happen to work for someone by virtue of their position in the organisational hierarchy. Yet, a team has the capacity to be far more than just a bunch of people – individuals are not perfect, but teams can be.
Your job as a manager is to harness the capabilities of your ‘bunch of people’ and give them both a sense of direction and a modicum of freedom so that they become a mutually supportive collective that takes a pride in achieving significant and measureable outcomes.
