The Tools you Need

When describing an async-first way of working, I assume a high level of distribution with the locations your team works out of. This is not to say that you can’t work asynchronously if you’re all in the same space. In this book, however, we’ll consider co-location as an exception and not the norm.

To work remotely and asynchronously, you need effective tools. Since a large part of this book will assume the presence of some such tools, I want to introduce you to the essential applications you’ll need to go async-first.
