8Intention of Time: Balancing What's Important
My best friend, my champion, my trust partner, my husband, and my lifer is Pleas Ferguson. We met during our freshman year of college in October 1998 when I was at a party at his college, Wabash. He played basketball, was 6′7″, and made my heart burst. We got married in 2008 and in 2014, we had our daughter, Tierra Ferguson, which broadened our range of love and compassion for each other and our family. When I have moments of wanting to sit at the bottom of the jungle gym, I reclaim gratitude for the loves of my life. My priorities start and end with my family.
In 2018, I read a quote that Steve Jobs gave when he was dying from cancer that continues to be present in my mind. It grounds and humbles me when I take myself and work all too seriously, or when I go too long without carving out what is important.
