CHAPTER 13Be Growth‐Minded
I had never slept with noise‐canceling headphones before, but Tom has shared his with me last night. This was the first day of our vacation that I slept past 8 a.m., and it felt great. There is something to be said for a good night's sleep and the impact it has on the mind and body.
When I woke up, I poured myself a cup of tea and went to sit on the porch of the cabin and enjoyed the zen. I looked around and took in the smells of the farm. I could see some families on their tractors making their way to the swimming hole and their various activities.
I wondered where my family might have gone, but it was kind of nice to sit in solitude and recharge. I thought about Henry and what he was up to today.
I recalled that we would be going on a ride today to see some of the many vegetables on the farm. I was thinking this was going to be on the less exciting side of the trip, but the kids had created the list, and we were all on board.
I debated whether to get up off this nice rocking chair and get some exercise, but I was so relaxed. One of the free‐range chickens was making its way around my cabin, and it made me reflect on energy again: How we invest our time and energy is so important to growth. Henry had been giving me this sort of energy all vacation, whether he knew it or not. Perhaps I should ensure that he knew it!
