Thousands of tech enthusiasts across the world camped out in long lines to get one of their very own. Although the obvious display of geekery made for easy cartoon fodder, the real juice was in the Apple gizmo’s symbolic status: Americans were as passionate and divided over the iPhone as they were over iRaq.
