Chapter . Carter Meets Hamas

Jimmy Carter ruffled more than a few feathers on both sides of the aisle – and the world, for that matter – when he met with Hamas officials this year. To the U.S. and European Union, Hamas is a terrorist organization, but Carter argued that they must be brought to the negotiating table if peace could ever be reached in the region. Not many were sympathetic to Carter’s arguments, though. It just went to show, former presidents can make just as many citizens and cartoonists angry after they’ve left office as they did when they were in power.
