A bad year of crops and skyrocketing gas prices compounded to raise the cost of nearly all food products nationwide. Americans everywhere felt the pinch at the grocery store–but far, far worse was the plight of those around the globe who fell victim to serious food shortages. As American corporations burned fields of corn for biodiesel, citizens of less fortunate nations starved. Cartoonists in other nations were more generally sensitive to the grand scope of the issue than those stateside, but everyone was concerned.
