Obama picked long-time Delaware Senator Joe Biden to be his running mate. Biden was seen as experienced in foreign policy, filling a gap in Obama’s resume. Biden was also known for talking without thinking, and although he made some noteworthy gaffes on the campaign trail, Biden was largely ignored as Sarah Palin stole the veep spotlight.
