Chapter . No Jobs

With 2.6 million Americans out of work, 2008 was the worst year for job losses since 1945. Economists worried that the trend would only get worse in 2009, while President Obama and his administration asked American’s to trust that the recession was temporary. The situation looked dismal for those just entering the job market, and those recently removed from it. Patience was hard to come by when the government’s stimulus plan seemed to sputter, and jobs continued to disappear.
