Chapter . Lying Burris
U.S. Senator Roland Burris should not have expected a welcoming party in Washington, after receiving his appointment from scandal plagued Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.
In Senate testimony, Burris insisted that he hadn’t offered to buy the seat, but more and more questions were raised as Burris offered several different explanations for FBI recordings of him allegedly offering Blagojevich some kind of compensation for the appointment.
With little public support, Burris announced that he would not seek election to the Senate when his term expired.
