Orchids Are Epigenetic

It makes sense that sensitive children wilt easily.

My basement is home to way too many wilted orchids. I don’t like to admit that, but orchids are difficult to raise. I keep them as reminders—of the way I used to teach in my early years. Wilted orchids were common back then. Not anymore. I raised a couple orchids in the traditional rewards and punishment mode long before there was any chatter about children being “orchidial” or “dandelinic.” More recently, I experienced the great privilege of raising two children with new information and updated models through a neuroscience of learning stance. The difference was life-changing both for me and the children.
