Chapter 22 ‘The Breakfast Club’ meets again
It had been more than 4 weeks since the reunion, and the lives of all six friends had been hectic. Since their meetings with Ben, each had gone on with their day-to-day lives, as well as completing tasks associated with getting what they wanted from life longer term, meaning they were even busier.
Brad couldn’t believe it when Josie reminded him the reunion was exactly a month ago. He had been working solidly from his Sydney office, as well as spending time daily with his parents and most nights with Josie.
They had talked on the phone with Karen and Russ, but mainly it was Karen talking to Josie about her new business idea.
‘We need to blow off some steam, babe,’ said Josie, before suggesting they organise all six of them getting together. Brad went one further and suggested a whole weekend away in three weeks’ time. He had to fly to a quick meeting in London and visit his San Fran office before then, but he was used to air travel and his private plane made things pretty civilised. He rang his EA, Rachel, and asked her to come up with something special for the six of them.
She didn’t disappoint. She booked two nights at Wolgan Valley in the Blue Mountains — a luxury mountain villa with three bedrooms, pool and butler. She even chartered a helicopter to get them there.
Josie rang Karen and Jayne to break the good news. She relied on Russ to tell Jasper, but she knew he wouldn’t say no.
